A Chilling Horror Game That Blends Resident Evil And Twin Peaks

The Resident Evil franchise has inspired many other titles, and an upcoming Steam game looks like a great one to watch. The series’ unique brand of both psychological and physical horror makes it the perfect blend of scares and thrills, and many games have tried to replicate the feel.

The best horror titles take elements of the classics and transform them into something new and exciting. One upcoming Steam game has taken the action and tense atmosphere of Resident Evil and combined it with the creepy, mysterious air of cult classic series Twin Peaks. The result looks like it will be a tense, claustrophobic game when it releases.

If You Like Twin Peaks, Check Out The Pines

The Pines Are Not What They Seem

The upcoming game is called The Pines, and it’s available to wishlist right now on Steam. The Pines is the debut project of Studio Abattoir, a dev studio from the Netherlands led by a single developer. The solo dev project looks stunning, with beautifully detailed, photorealistic visuals.

The Pines follows former detective Edward Walker, who heads to a secluded retreat for a little R&R. The Pines is supposed to be a quiet, calming spot with therapists on site—the perfect place to recover from work and life exhaustion.

But old habits are hard to shake, and as soon as Walker arrives, he starts to notice odd things about the place. The residents of The Pines all have their own stories and traumas, and Walker sets about uncovering them all. And underneath the calm exterior lurks something much darker.

Players are thrown into a beautiful open world to explore and discover, and can choose to talk, fight, or investigate their way through the game. How they handle the challenges of The Pines shapes Walker’s story, with every choice making an impact on how things play out.

Say the wrong thing to the wrong person, and you may end up with a Stalker following you through the misty landscape of The Pines.

It’s A Great Time For Horror Games

Fans of the horror genre are in luck lately—The Pines is just one of many fantastic horror titles to look forward to. From new Silent Hill games to some excellent indie horror games, there’s something for every fan of chills and thrills.

Whether you love the psychological horror or action-packed moments of Resident Evil, or the unsettling atmosphere of Twin Peaks, The Pines seems to have it all covered. There’s no release date for the indie horror gem yet. The developer has recently announced that they’ll have some new things to share about the game soon. Over 15,000 people have already wishlisted the title, which is shaping up to be a very interesting entry into the horror genre.
