Nobody saw it coming.
Madonna turned WorldPride Amsterdam into one of the biggest pop culture moments of the weekend when she welcomed Kylie Minogue to the stage during Club Confessions powered by MISTR. The surprise appearance marked only the second time the two global superstars have ever performed together, giving fans a moment decades in the making.
Held at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live on Aug. 1 during the city’s WorldPride celebrations, the event transformed into an instant piece of queer pop history as Madonna and Kylie debuted a new remix of “Love Sensation.” They closed the performance embracing one another while thousands of fans erupted inside the packed venue.
The appearance came during one of the busiest nights of WorldPride, following Amsterdam’s famous Canal Parade and a weekend dedicated to LGBTQ+ visibility, celebration and community.
A Surprise Nobody Expected
Madonna opened her set by declaring, “Mother is here,” before telling the audience they were in “gay heaven,” setting the tone for an evening built around dance music, queer culture and unexpected guests.
When Kylie emerged, the audience response was immediate. Videos circulating across social media captured the crowd screaming as the longtime friends shared the stage, dancing together before embracing at the end of the performance.
The duet was especially notable because Madonna and Kylie have crossed paths throughout their careers but have rarely performed together in public. For many fans, the Amsterdam appearance fulfilled a wish that had lingered for years.
Madonna was also joined throughout the evening by her longtime collaborator and producer Stuart Price, while Grammy-winning DJ Honey Dijon followed with a headline set.
Club Confessions Continues Its Global Run
The Amsterdam stop marked another chapter for Club Confessions powered by MISTR, the ongoing nightlife experience that blends music, queer culture and conversations around sexual health.
Previous editions have been held at The Abbey in West Hollywood as well as events in New York City and Paris. Bringing the concept to WorldPride expanded its reach to one of the largest international LGBTQ+ gatherings of the year.
MISTR says the partnership is designed to create cultural moments that help reduce HIV stigma while encouraging broader conversations about prevention, testing and access to care.
“Throughout my career, I’ve always supported efforts to fight HIV & AIDS, and that fight begins with education and access,” Madonna said.
She continued, “With MISTR, Tristan is expanding access to HIV prevention and sexual healthcare for everyone. Through this work, he’s helping preserve and strengthen LGBTQ+ spaces while investing in the communities and culture that have long sustained us.”
A Weekend Packed With Pride
Club Confessions served as one of the marquee events during the two-night WorldPride Music Festival, produced by Jake Resnicow in partnership with Insomniac.
The lineup featured performances from Paris Hilton, Bebe Rexha, Purple Disco Machine, Oliver Heldens and Honey Dijon, among many others. The festival also earned an official Guinness World Records title for the most confetti released in one minute, adding another memorable moment to the celebration.

A Historic WorldPride Celebration
This year’s WorldPride carried added significance for Amsterdam, which hosted the international celebration for the first time while commemorating 25 years since the Netherlands became the first country to legalize same-sex marriage.
Beyond the music, WorldPride’s mission continues to focus on advancing LGBTQ+ equality through cultural programming, advocacy and fundraising efforts that support Pride organizations around the globe.
For Madonna, returning to a WorldPride stage for the first time since her 2019 performance in New York was already enough to make headlines. Inviting Kylie Minogue to join her elevated the night into something fans will likely be talking about long after the final beat dropped.
