Broadway is bringing back one of Richard Greenberg’s most celebrated plays with an impressive trio of leading actors.
Superman star David Corenswet, Heated Rivalry actor François Arnaud and The Handmaid’s Tale standout Yvonne Strahovski will headline a new production of Three Days of Rain, marking the play’s first Broadway revival in more than two decades.
The production is scheduled to begin performances in February at a Shubert Theatre that has yet to be announced.
An Acclaimed Creative Team
Directing the revival is Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, whose Broadway credits include Eureka Day and August: Osage County. The production also serves as a tribute to Greenberg, who died in 2025 after a celebrated career that included the Tony-winning Take Me Out and the acclaimed family drama The Assembled Parties.
Originally premiering in 1997, Three Days of Rain centers on siblings and a family friend who uncover long-buried truths after inheriting the belongings of their architect father. As they piece together clues from the past, the story shifts between two generations, revealing how memory, ambition and family ties can shape lives in unexpected ways.
The play previously reached Broadway in 2006 with a cast led by Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper and Julia Roberts, whose appearance marked her Broadway debut.
Shapiro praised the play’s lasting impact in a statement.
“‘Three Days of Rain’ is truly one of the most beautiful plays I’ve ever done or experienced. Steeped in the brilliantly funny and enchantingly complex world of Richard Greenberg, the story follows two generations of New York intelligentsia as they navigate the burden of family, the seduction of art and the necessity of love over time and eternity.”
David Binder will produce the revival alongside co-producer Jayne Baron Sherman. Executive producing duties are handled by 101 Productions, Ltd., while Caparelliotis Casting oversees casting.
Busy Schedules for the Leading Trio
The announcement comes during a packed stretch for all three stars.
Arnaud continues expanding his television résumé after joining Hulu’s upcoming limited series Count My Lies. His recent screen work includes Twinless and Fucktoys, with HBO Max’s limited series Alice also on the horizon.
Corenswet, who recently stepped into the iconic cape as Superman, has several major projects lined up beyond Broadway. He is attached to the sports drama Mr. Irrelevant, inspired by the true story of John Tuggle, the final selection in the 1983 NFL Draft. Fans can also expect to see him return as Superman in the sequel Man of Tomorrow, along with an appearance in this summer’s Supergirl. Earlier television credits include Ryan Murphy‘s Hollywood, The Politician and HBO‘s We Own This City.
Meanwhile, Strahovski remains a fixture across television and streaming. She stars opposite Vince Vaughn in Apple TV‘s Bad Monkey and recently led Peacock‘s horror limited series Teacup, where she also served as an executive producer. Her past work spans projects including The Tomorrow War with Chris Pratt and Netflix‘s Stateless, in which she appeared alongside Cate Blanchett and Dominic West. Theater audiences may remember her Broadway debut in Lincoln Center’s revival of Golden Boy.
A Fresh Look at a Modern Classic
While Three Days of Rain has long been admired by theater fans, this revival introduces the play to a new generation through a cast that spans blockbuster films, prestige television and streaming hits.
Corenswet’s growing profile following his superhero breakout, Arnaud’s steady rise across film and television, and Strahovski’s acclaimed dramatic work create an intriguing mix of performers for Greenberg’s layered script.
With an award-winning director at the helm and Broadway audiences eager for high-profile revivals, Three Days of Rain is already shaping up to be one of next season’s most anticipated productions. More details, including the theater location and performance schedule, are expected in the coming months.
