Rachael Ray thought her husband was gay when they met because he knew how to cook tilapia

Cooking show host Rachael Ray recently spoke on a podcast about trying to set up her now husband – lawyer and musician John Cusimano – with another man before the couple started dating.

“The first time I saw my husband, I thought he was gay and I tried to set him up on a date with a male friend of mine,” she said on an episode of I’ve Never Said This Before with host Tommy DiDario, according to Us Weekly, which obtained an exclusive clip. “And he said, ‘But I am not gay.’”

Ray was thrilled by this revelation. “Then I was like, ‘Check, please’ and I couldn’t wait to get him in the sack,” she said.

“It was [a memorable evening] and he is a very blessed man.” She added that she “had to buy two different-sized suits for our wedding from Prada because his jacket was one size and his trousers were another.”

“I am a very lucky lady,” she quipped.

Ray also spoke about her assumption of her husband’s sexuality a few months ago on her own podcast, I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.

“He told me what he had made for dinner the night before, and it was so impressive, and he told me he was a lawyer. There’s no way a straight guy knows what tilapia is,” she said.

But she was wrong, and the couple has now been married for 20 years.
