Why Tom Selleck Was Frustrated Amid Blue Bloods Coming to an End

Tom Selleck is still feeling blue over this news.

Days before the final eight episodes of Blue Bloods will air, the 79-year-old reflected on the beloved series and why he disagrees with its cancellation after 14 seasons.

“I’m kind of frustrated,” Tom told TV Insider in an interview published Oct. 3. “I haven’t wanted to talk about an ending for Blue Bloods but about it still being wildly successful.”

He pointed to the No. 9 spot it held on Nielsen’s Top 100 most-watched TV shows for 2023-24, and if you discounted the top three, NFL Sunday Night, Monday Night and Thursday Night Football, it would rank sixth.

“My frustration is the show was always taken for granted because it performed from the get-go,” he explained. “I don’t believe in holding grudges, but if you were to say to the television network, ‘Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe.”
