Watch the Teaser Trailer for Leigh Whannell’s ‘Wolf Man’ Movie!

Horror

Director Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man) returns to the world of the Universal Monsters with next year’s Wolf Man, and the short-and-sweet teaser trailer has arrived today.

From Universal and Blumhouse, Whannell’s Wolf Man will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025, and you can watch the first look official teaser down below.

The teaser has been unleashed by Universal in the wake of a questionable Halloween Horror Nights costume based on the movie going viral online, though the teaser doesn’t actually give us a glimpse of the Wolf Man character design. Instead, it effectively sets the mood for a savage werewolf movie through only brief glimpses of Whannell’s fresh take on the material.

On that note, don’t judge a movie by its Halloween Horror Nights costume!

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (Poor ThingsIt Comes at Night) stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Emmy winner Julia GarnerOzarkInventing Anna), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida FirthHullraisersComa).

But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.

The upcoming horror film co-stars Sam Jaeger (The Handmaid’s Tale), Ben Prendergast (The Sojourn Audio Drama) and Benedict Hardie (The Invisible Man).

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

The screenplay is written by Leigh Whannell & Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo (Dumb Money). Jason Blum is producing the film.

Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.
