Newly-formed developer ANTISTATIC STUDIOS are diving into the PvE realm with their new title, codenamed HORNET. The team has unveiled some appropriately teaster footage of the game in action, edited in a found footage style that definitely hits the mark.

The new developer is comprised of industry vets, including Lukasz Ludkowski (writer for Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners), Kris Teper (Lead Environment Artist for BioShock), co-founder Maciej Miksztal (who also co-founded Starward Industries and Far From Home), Michal Koltun (Gameplay Programmer for Conan Exiles), and Gabriel Nordholm (Community Manager for Project Winter).

As for HORNET, the title is a cooperative tactical shooter that takes place in a post-nuclear European continent that’s “fueled by emergent gameplay”, where operatives (the players) work for a mysterious organization known as Mortfield Industries. Their mission is to search and contain any paranormal activity by any means necessary. It is a “procedurally-assisted open world full of dynamic events, secrets, and encounters with multiple factions and entities.”

According to the press release, HORNET will involve “the most influential writers from the biggest paranormal universes” for its lore and story, though who those writers are has yet to be revealed. ANTISTATIC STUDIOS is currently planning closed tests of the early version of the project, which those interested can head over to the developer’s Discord and the official website to fill out their info.

The developers will showcase a closed-doors demo of their project during this year’s Game Developers Conference (March 18th to 22nd, 2024). Afterwards, they plan to assemble a team for full-scale production later this year.
