A new teaser poster unveiled ahead of the Sundance premiere of In a Violent Nature introduces “Johnny,” the undead killer behind the slasher that frames the slayings from his perspective.

“Nature is Unforgiving” the tagline reads in the poster, below.

Shudder’s upcoming slasher follows “the enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness.” In other words, In a Violent Nature gives a twist on the slasher format by following the events through Johnny’s eyes.

About the film: “When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.”

Chris Nash wrote and directed In a Violent Nature.

Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor star.

The film is produced by Shudder as a Shudder Original and is also produced by Peter Kuplowsky, and Shannon Hanmer.

In a Violent Nature is a tremendous new slasher. We’re thrilled for you to meet Johnny, whose reign of terror honors the iconic subgenre while taking audiences on a singular and brutal new journey within it,” said Samuel Zimmerman, Shudder’s vice president of programming. “Chris Nash’s bold perspective represents the best of Shudder, marrying the genre’s traditions with its exhilarating next steps.”

In a Violent Nature is set to make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22. Shudder, AMC Networks’ popular streaming service for horror, recently acquired the film ahead of the fest.

No release date has been announced as of yet, but expect the film sometime in2024. Stay tuned for more on this slasher soon.
