Kim Kardashian: North seeing me ‘fail and cry’ over baby bar exam helped us bond

Kim Kardashian revealed that failing the “baby bar” three times helped her eldest daughter, North West, relate to her on a new level.

The SKIMS founder, 42, reflected on the moment she finally passed the California law exam in a new interview with Vogue Italia.

“That’s one of my favorite episodes too. My daughter was there with me,” the proud mom said, referencing the “Kardashians” episode that highlighted when she discovered she had passed on her fourth attempt.

“For a long time it was difficult for [North] to understand why I was studying all the time,” she continued.

“She saw me fail and cry, she saw how I was no different than her when she was worried because of a test. But when she saw me cry from joy, I knew she understood how important that achievement was to me personally.”

Kardashian shares 10-year-old North, along with Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4, with estranged ex-husband Kanye West.

The “Kardashians” star learned she had finally passed the exam, formally known as the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, while sitting in a Red Lobster parking lot in December 2021.

“I go in the car because if I’m upset I don’t want to have everyone stare,” Kardashian explained in an episode of the family’s Hulu reality show.

“You are only allowed to take the baby bar a certain amount of times. This was the last time I could ever take it, so if I don’t [pass] then this law school journey is over for me.”

Kardashian also took to Instagram to reveal the happy news.

“I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years,” she wrote. “But I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!! I did have COVID on the 3rd try w[ith] a 104 fever but I’m not making excuses 😉.”

The “baby bar” is a test in California for first-year legal students who are not taking classes at an accredited university, such as Kardashian, who studied with a private tutor.

The passing score is 560, or 70 percent, for the seven-hour exam, according to JD Advising.

The TV personality turned business mogul scored 474 on her first attempt and 463 on her second try while battling COVID-19.
