Dorinda Medley believes Ramona Singer only shaded Bravo’s forthcoming “Real Housewives of New York City” spinoff as a defense mechanism.
“It’s a been difficult time for all of us because we’ve all been in limbo for a long time, so maybe she was safely reacting to protect herself,” Medley, 57, exclusively tells Page Six while promoting her partnership with Amazon devices and Ring.
“Maybe she’s worried,” the “Make It Nice” author, who recently reestablished communication with Singer after an extended friendship hiatus, continues.
“I don’t believe [she feels that way]. I would hope that’s not true.”
Last week, Singer, 65, shared her unfiltered thoughts on “RHONY: Legacy” — set to feature OG stars of the original Big Apple-based “Housewives” series — and went so far as to call it “The Loser Show.”
“But I also feel like the ‘Legacy’ [show], how could it be really good? The people they are gonna bring back are the people they didn’t want to renew anyways,” she told host Carlos King during his “Reality with the King” podcast.
“So now what? Are you gonna call it ‘The Loser Show,’ the ‘Loser Legacy’?”
Singer — the only “RHONY” cast member to maintain a full-time position for a consecutive 13 seasons — said that she has acclimated nicely to less exposure since the last episode aired in September 2021.
“I’m much calmer now that I haven’t done the show,” the real estate agent explained. “I know this is an oxymoron, but I really don’t like being recognized.”
A portion of Bravo fans has persistently called for the network to exile Singer from “New York City,” many citing Page Six’s exclusive report of an alleged racist comment made by Singer about co-star Eboni K. Williams that launched an internal investigation. (Singer, who has denied making any such remark, was later cleared in the investigation.)
“You can call me unfiltered, not polite, always in a rush. I forget people’s names, you know. Yes, I’m all of those. But one thing I’m not — I’m not a racist,” Singer asserted on “Reality with the King.”
Bravo honcho Andy Cohen revealed the next phases for “RHONY” in March, telling Variety that a “RHONY” reboot — featuring all-new and diverse women — was in the works as well as a “Legacy” project.
Cohen, 54, said that the dual show approach “takes into account everything that our passionate audience has really been telling us over the last year” — which saw “RHONY” ratings drop and the cancellation of the Season 13 reunion.
The new “RHONY” cast — including Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Lizzy Savetsky, Jessel Taank and Brynn Whitfield — was announced earlier this month at BravoCon 2022.
“I think it’s very exciting that they have the new girls,” Medley says. “We’re finally moving this train. Because ‘New York City’ needs the girls running around — new girls, old girls, I think it’s good things to come.”
Elsewhere during the three-day convention held at Manhattan’s Javits Center, Cohen told Medley that she might be on the precipice of a permanent return to reality TV. (She notoriously went “on pause” after “RHONY” Season 12.)
“When are you going to take Dorinda Medley off pause and press play?” she questioned her old boss during an “Ask Andy” panel.
“Wow, not since Jill Zarin confronted me about why she was fired have I ever been so publicly flogged by a former ‘Housewife,’” he said with a laugh, while also assuring her, “Dorinda, your time is coming.”
Medley made a temporary comeback during Season 2 of Peacock’s “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip,” for which she hosted women from several franchises at her Massachusetts estate, Bluestone Manor.
Although Medley hopes to eventually reclaim her apple once casting for “Legacy” is finalized, she is still enjoying her time away from the cameras.
“I love my life now because I have that beautiful Bravolebrity [status], that whole city life, but I also have this opportunity to come back to Bluestone Manor, which you know I love and I live for,” she explains.
With the help of Amazon devices and Smart Home Technology, Medley — known for her affinity for the holidays — has turned her famous property into a Halloween haven full of festive décor.
“I loved BravoCon, but I was really excited to just get in the car the other day. I knew I had this Amazon partnership with the Ring and the new Echo Show 15,” she says. “It’s really fun stuff.”
