Austen Kroll blames taking Ambien – a sedative to treat insomnia – for why he spilled too many secrets during Season 2 of “Winter House.”
“I legitimately thought that I was taking a sleeping pill, but apparently if you fight off the sleep on Ambien, you like trip and wander around like ghosts and talk to people,” the reality star, 35, exclusively told Page Six in a new interview.
“I was trying to be good! I was like, ‘Austen, go to bed and this Ambien will help you go to bed.’ And in fact, it did the opposite.”
Craig Conover, Kroll’s best friend and co-star, added that seeing his pal take the medication was one of “the most amazing things” that’s happened on the Bravo show.
“Austen thought it’d be good to start taking Ambien before ‘Winter House,’ and it leads to something absolutely amazing that happens,” he teased.
Conover, 33, said fans will get to see Kroll “telling people secrets” during an upcoming episode, with Kroll teasing that he was “wandering into rooms and talking to people.”
The “Southern Charm” stars also noted that Kroll did not remember the sleepwalking gossiping sessions when he woke up the next day.
“I was like, ‘[I went to bed] at 11:30 right?’” Kroll recalled. “And Craig was like, ‘Dude, you were in my room at 2.’ I was like, ’No! That was the opposite of what I wanted to do.’”
Kroll and Conover also told us that “Summer House” Season 6 airing while “Winter House” was filming played a major role in the drama that goes down.
“We started to pick up on real quick that a lot of the Hamptons people had some serious beef that didn’t even make sense to us, so I think everyone just had their own fights,” Conover explained.
Season 2 of “Winter House” premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
