She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany has a simple request for her fans: “Support trans futures.”

In late July, Marvel released a promotional video for the upcoming Disney+ series, giving fans a glimpse of Maslany playing the green-skinned, six-foot-seven lawyer She-Hulk.

In the video, which has racked up more than three million views, Maslany wore a cropped sweatshirt with the phrase “Support Trans Futures” on it.

The star, also known for her role in Orphan Black, wore the top again in a second teaser clip that saw her and Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo explain what She-Hulk is about.

But fans now know what Maslany is all about – that she unequivocally supports trans rights.

Her subtle yet powerful show of solidarity comes at a time when Republican legislatures up and down the US are attacking trans youth from all sides, from limiting the healthcare they can access to restricting the sports they can play.

So fans said they were touched by Melany’s top – and some were even willing to give She-Hulk‘s camp yet controversial CGI a pass to show her some love.

Maslany told a fan on Instagram that the sweatshirt is by gc2b, “an awesome company that also makes comfortable binding options designed by trans people for trans people”, Yahoo! News reported.

gc2b, an American LGBTQ+ fashion brand that sells binders, was founded in 2015 by trans designer Marli Washington.

The company also sells other apparel, such as shorts and hoodies as well as Maslany’s sweatshirt. It was made in 2020 as part of a collaboration with the Black Trans Travel Fund, a grassroots group that provides Black trans women with resources to access safe transit.

gc2b tweeted on Monday (15 August): “The gc2b x Marvel Studios crossover event we were not expecting! s/o Tatiana Maslany for supporting us and @BlkTransTravel.”

Unfortunately, the top is currently out of stock.

Tatiana Maslany told the Los Angeles Times that she’s ready and rearing to use She-Hulk‘s success to make it clear she’s a trans ally.

She said wearing the top was her small way of assuring trans kids that they are loved. Something which will undoubtedly mean the world to trans young people in Florida, who are no longer to speak about their identities in schools because of the state’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Disney, which owns the Marvel Cinematic Universe, faced stiff criticism for its hesitancy to condemn the bill given the company’s history of donating to Republican legislators who supported the act.

“I’m aware of what reach images like that have and I’m aware that there have been bills passed in Florida that Disney has been connected to in terms of providing money to [politicians that passed] anti-LGBTQ bills,” Maslany told the newspaper.

“I know how little it costs me to do something like that. I’m incredibly privileged and I’m very fortunate to have the platform I do. And I’m very supportive of people who are fighting on the ground for LGBTQ rights.

“That community means a lot to me and if there’s any way that I can continue to voice my allyship then I’ll do it.”
