Magnet Hits the Road With Supernatural Drama ‘Next Exit’

Sony Screen Gems is kicking off the Halloween season with the Dracula-inspired horror movie The Invitation (formerly titled The Bride), which now has a gorgeous international poster that shows lead Nathalie Emmanuel hanging upside down, just like a bat.

Jessica M. Thompson directed the upcoming horror movie for Sony’s Screen Gems, the film being described as “a contemporary horror thriller.”

The Invitation is said to “tell the story of a young woman who is courted and swept off her feet, only to realize a gothic conspiracy is afoot.” The film will release on August 26, 2022.

Here’s the full plot synopsis: “After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test…and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. Invited by her newfound family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, she’s at first seduced by the sexy aristocrat host.

“But Evie is soon thrust into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets in her family’s history and the unsettling intentions behind their sinful generosity.”

Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”), Thomas Doherty (“Gossip Girl”), Hugh Skinner, Sean Pertwee, Courtney Taylor, Alana Boden, and Stephanie Corneliussen star.

In addition to The Invitation, several other Dracula-based or Dracula-inspired films are coming soon, including RenfieldThe Last Voyage of the Demeter, and a film from Chloé Zhao.
