Teresa Giudice’s Fiance Luis Ruelas Sued For $113K As His Company Files For $1M Bankruptcy

Reality TV

There are a million and one reasons for Teresa Giudice to sign a prenup before getting married to Luis “Louie” Ruelas. Unfortunately, this latest news from The Sun is just another one of those reasons. The publication exclusively revealed that Louie, his business partner, and the produce company they were involved with are being sued for owing six figures to a vendor, and to make matters worse, their company is now filing for bankruptcy.

This lawsuit centers around a produce company that Louie is apparently involved with, Produce Depot. Has Teresa or anyone on The Real Housewives of New Jersey ever mentioned that Louie is in the produce industry? Is this how Tre is sourcing all of those pineapples? Either way, the court papers obtained by The Sun show that C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc sued Produce Depot, Luis, and a business partner back on September 23, 2021. The lawsuit claims that C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. sold fresh fruit and vegetables to Produce Depot in the fall of 2020 for $113,404.40.

The court papers claim that since then, “Produce Depot has failed and refused to pay for the commodities it ordered, received, and accepted from Plaintiff, despite due demand.”

So, to summarize, Louie’s company has a hefty unpaid bill for a whole bunch of fresh fruits and veggies. But in his defense, it’s a little unclear how much he’s actually involved with the Produce Depot. He self-describes on Instagram as an “entrepreneur, philanthropist, motivator, father, and warrior.”

He links out to a digital media company he co-founded, but there’s no mention of him being a produce wholesaler or anything. However, the lawsuit alleges that Louie and his business partner “are or were owners, officers, directors, members and/or at least 10 percent shareholders of Produce Depot during the relevant time period, making them ‘responsibly connected.’”

The court papers allege that Louie and his business partner were “responsible for the day-to-day operations” and “had full decision-making authority over the assets of Produce Depot.” So therefore, if the bills weren’t getting paid, they’re the ones on the line for it.

Unsurprisingly, Louie and the business partner claim that none of this is true. In December 2021, they responded to the lawsuit, saying that they weren’t the ones in control of the produce business, and they’ve requested that the judge dismiss the case.

To add yet another element of messiness to this story, Produce Depot just filed for a $1,660,488.10 bankruptcy. So, a judge agreed to postpone their involvement with the lawsuit while they get their finances straightened out, but Louie isn’t off the hook. Although he’s listed in the bankruptcy filing, the judge has kept the lawsuit in place for Louie and his business partner. As a result, they might end up having to pay up soon.
