Where to Find The Best Weapons in Horizon Forbidden West

Movies

Horizon Forbidden West is all about taking down machines through combat, so players will want to use the best weapons as they work their way through the main story. Horizon Forbidden West has ten different weapon types, not including how many variations of each weapon type there are, so figuring out which weapons are the strongest may be confusing.

Unlike the first game in the series, Horizon Forbidden West has included a new, stronger classification of weapons called Legendary Weapons. Horizon Forbidden West has introduced new weapons on top of the ones from the previous game, and almost all of them have at least one Legendary variant. These weapons are powerful but difficult to obtain if players don’t know where to start.

The game has ten weapon types: the Spear, Hunter Bow, Warrior Bow, Sharpshot Bow, Blastsling, Tripcaster, Ropecaster, Spike Thrower, Boltblaster, and Shredder Gauntlet. Each of these weapon types has one Legendary version (except the Hunter Bow, which has two, and the Ropecaster, which has none). Here’s how to get every Legendary Weapon in the game.

How to Get Every Legendary Weapon in Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West Legendary Weapon Bow Combat

Hunter Bows (The Sun Scourge & Death Seeker’s Shadow)

Players can acquire ‘The Sun Scourge,’ the first Legendary Hunter Bow in Horizon Forbidden West. Players can obtain it by defeating every Rebel Camp in the game, which can be identified by a special Rebel Camp symbol on the map. After players clear every Rebel Camp, they’ll have to complete a final mission that the game will automatically begin. From there, players will be able to loot this bow at the end of the mission. The Sun Scourge can deal incredibly high elemental damage as it has the capability of shooting three different kinds of elemental arrows. As a result, smaller machines will often be able to be killed in one shot with this bow.

The Death Seeker’s Shadow is the other Legendary Hunter Bow, and players need to complete Arena Challenges to earn medals to purchase it. The bow usually costs around 80 Arena Medals and can be purchased by the merchant Dukkah at the entrance of the Arena. This bow has excellent tear damage, allowing players to rip off machine parts easily. The bow also has a special targeting arrow that lets Aloy guide overridden machines to certain locations, making combat easier as the player can pit machines against each other.

Boltblaster (The Blast Forge)

The Blast Forge is the Legendary Boltblaster that can also be purchased by the Arena merchants for 80 Medals. This weapon can unleash a magazine of bullets to deal massive burst damage.

Sharpshot Bow (The Forgefall)

The Forgefall is the final Legendary Weapon players can purchase at the Arena (also for 80 Medals). This weapon is made for sniping and can deal a ridiculously high amount of damage with one shot (if players are aiming properly). The bow can also shoot Plasma arrows for extra elemental damage.

Spike Thrower (Skykiller)

The Legendary Spike Thrower Skykiller can be obtained by completing the Horizon Forbidden West side quest “The Way Home,” which is found on the far east area of the map (this side quest is available relatively late in the game). This weapon is a heavy hitter that rains down spikes on an enemy. While it can kill small machines almost instantly, it’s better used on large enemies.

Blastsling (Wings of the Ten)

Wings of the Ten can be obtained from collecting all the Black Box collectibles in the world. Once all twelve are collected, players must bring them to the Arena and talk to the merchant who players encounter near the Broken Sky main mission. After that, players must spend all their boxes at her shop, after which she’ll reward the player with the weapon. This weapon is an explosive solution for tearing apart medium-sized machines with ease.

Shredder Gauntlet (Ancestor’s Return)

Ancestor’s Return is the Legendary Shredder Gauntlet, and it can be obtained after handing in all the ornaments found in Horizon Forbidden West‘s Relic Ruins, which are obtained after completing those locations. There are eight Relic Ruins in the game total, and players must talk to Stemmur afterwards to get the weapon. While this weapon may be the most time-consuming to obtain, it can be used to deal effective ranged elemental damage if players are skilled enough to catch the disk after every throw.

Tripcaster (Tinker’s Pride)

The Tinker’s Pride Tripcaster can be obtained by completing all four Hunting Grounds in the game. Once they’re all completed with the best rank possible, players will be notified they’ve obtained this weapon. This weapon allows players to place shields to protect themselves against ranged attacks and has a variety of ammo types players can use to take down machines with traps.

Warrior Bow (Carjas’s Bane)

The final Legendary weapon is the Carja’s Bane, a Warrior Bow players can get by winning all four Gauntlet Runs. This bow lets Aloy shoot strong arrows rapidly, allowing her to take down machines quickly. It’s a powerful version of the standard bow, perfect for regular combat.
