Hi, thanks for sitting down with us today. I feel like this doesn’t get asked enough in interviews, so how are you doing today?

Thanks for having me. I am so excited to be here. I’m doing good but even better now that I’m sitting down with Daily Pop News!

Tell us about your relationship with music. Do you turn to it more when you’re sad or down, or when you’re happy?

Ahhh, my favorite question of the day! Music is my spirit animal. Another layer of skin if that’s possible. Music is what I relate to the most, it’s the only language I speak fluently whenever my toolkit of words fall short. Music has gotten me through some dark times and still carries me whenever the weight of the world becomes too much. To put it short, music is my medicine. Music is a curator/caretaker of all things emotional. I find that people turn to it for many things. It’s universal and it’s fit for all sorts of scenarios. For me, I gravitate towards music more when I’m sad and one of the reasons why I do is because most of my life, I have dealt with some heavy things that usually most kids hadn’t experienced. Taking care of a sick mother in your teens while watching a father deteriorate from alcoholism can be a blow to a kid. Though there were happy moments in my life, the rough times are what shaped me into who I am today. Sad music has a way of comforting me, soothing in a sense. It feeds my soul in ways happy music doesn’t. Though I love happy music, don’t get me wrong. The sad side of it is so cathartic.

What themes seem to show up over and over in your songs, if any? Why do you think that is? 

Heartbreak and loss are themes that tend to come about a lot in my music. It’s almost second nature, especially now that I have lost both parents, a few family members, and a childhood friend all within the past six years.  I think it’s because I identify with so much tragedy that my music quickly draws to the upheaval in my life but at the same time, music calms the waves allowing for my creativity to take place and create something magical.

What have you found most difficult about releasing music? 

Releasing music can be terrifying. There are so many questions you’re asking yourself, like, is it good enough? will people like it? am I on the right path with this song? will people hate it etc… All these things can be nerve-racking but belief in yourself can go a long way. I, too, suffer from this annoying syndrome.

Tell us about what you’re working on right now!

Right now I’m working on a brand new single and it should release sometime in late January or February. So stoked. Keep an eye and ear peeled for the new release.

Do you have a favorite lyric or verse from your most recent single?

 Yeah, the second verse in “Need You” is my ultimate favorite. It balances what has already been conveyed and then hits you like a ton of bricks when the beat kicks in. I can rewind that part for hours!
