Irish late-night TV host Graham Norton is to host a “drag Eurovision” produced by the makers of RuPaul’s Drag Race – and it’s to fight to be the “queen of the universe”.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge is teaming up with World of Wonder, the production company behind the beloved drag competition, to make Queen of the Universe.

According to Variety, the show will be an international singing competition that promises “high heels, high octaves [and] high competition” that will leave no wig untouched.

Queen of the Universe won’t involve any iconic lip-sync performances, however, instead seeing top queens from across the world put their real vocal chops to the test.

And The Graham Norton Show and Eurovision Song Contest host, who has helmed the Drag Race UK panel alongside RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Alan Carr across the three seasons, will be the face of the show.

The job of helming a Eurovision-style drag competition is very much in Norton’s wheelhouse, considering he has also even appeared on Netflix’s own Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

It will drop on Paramount Plus 2 December, the outlet understands, after first being announced as early as February during ViacomCBS’ investor day presenter.

Cast members are yet to be announced.

The programme was inspired by Conchita Wurst’s show-stopping and jaw-dropping Eurovision number in 2014, when she left viewers stunned – and inspired – with her song, “Rise Like a Phoenix”.

It comes only a week after Drag Race UK‘s latest season dropped, leaving fans sufficiently gagged.

The first episode of season three introduced 11 new entertainers to the franchise, including the series’ first-ever cis female competitor, Victoria Scone.

Her debut easily won the hearts of countless viewers, as the Cardiff cabaret queen stepped into the werkroom in a glam burgundy gown with feathered sleeves.

“Hell hath no fury like a woman sconned,” she joked.
