Lisa Barlow Teases “Change In Dynamic” With Meredith Marks On Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City Season 2

Reality TV

The Season 2 premiere of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City left viewers shocked and speechless from the unprecedented events that were (thankfully!) caught on camera. Some viewers may also be surprised to learn that the dynamic of the previously inseparable and long-time gal pals, Lisa Barlow and Meredith Marks, has “shifted.”

During an interview with Digital Spy, Lisa described her friendship with Meredith by saying, “Meredith and I have always been great friends. I’ve known Meredith for over 10 years. We’re not just friends as [girlfriends], our families are actually friends. My kids absolutely love Meredith’s kids. Meredith and I have always had very raw conversations with each other”.

After witnessing Lisa and Meredith’s close bond in Season 1, the change in their friendship leads to speculation about what happened between the two castmates. The most apparent reason for the sudden shift could be the burgeoning friendship between Lisa and Jen Shah.

Lisa teased, “Obviously, we’re still friends and close friends, but… as new friends were introduced into our friendship [group], you’re going to see that dynamic shift.”

Lisa’s loyalty to Meredith was called into question by Heather Gay during the Season 1 Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Reunion when Heather accused Lisa of choosing Jen over Meredith. While Lisa reiterated her loyalty to Meredith, her continued defense of Jen was questionable to both her castmates and viewers.

During the Season 2 premiere, it was evident that Lisa and Jen grew closer between the first and second seasons after Jen told Lisa that she would go to jail for her–although she hasn’t been yet. Does Jen know something that we don’t know?

Viewers were also surprised to learn that the Season 1 feud between Meredith and Jen escalated after the season wrapped and Meredith saw tweets that Jen liked tweets that accused Meredith’s son, Brooks Marks, of being “privileged” and a “twink.” Meredith found Jen’s behavior to be inexcusable for targeting her child. And, as we all know, Rule #1 of all the Housewives franchises is: kids are off-limits.

Despite Meredith’s objection during a sit down at a Sabbath dinner, Lisa continued to back up Jen. Lisa even attempted to provide context and excuses for Jen’s actions, but Meredith was not here for it.

As sad as it is to witness the shift in their dynamic, one can only question Lisa’s seemingly blind loyalty to Jen, especially since it seems to be at the expense of her 10-plus year friendship with Meredith. However, based on the Season 2 preview, one can only wonder if another shift is on the horizon.

In regard to that change in dynamic, Lisa said, “It doesn’t mean it’s good, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s just shifted. You’ll see how raw Meredith and I actually are with each other. I think it’s a good thing. I think it’s real, that’s how real relationships are. You’ll get to see more depth and dimension in our relationship.”
