Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City Star Jennie Nguyen Was “Surprised” That Jen Shah Wasn’t Turning Up Her Persona For The Cameras

Reality TV

Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is back for Season 2, and it did not disappoint. Of course, much of the drama this season will focus on HBIC Jen Shah, and her legal woes. On March 30, 2021, Jen was arrested.

She is facing federal charges of conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud. Her assistant, Stuart Smith, was also arrested and faces the same charges. RHOSLC star Jen plead not guilty to the charges, as did Stuart.

Lisa Barlow, who is supporting Jen, needed some time after Jen’s arrest to absorb and process what happened. “Jen’s situation doesn’t change who I am as a person and how I’m going to treat Jen as a friend, but it was a lot,” Lisa stated. “It took me weeks to recover from some of the stuff we had to go through.” And don’t think for a moment that Jen didn’t notice that Lisa was late offering her support.

In the RHOSLC Season 2 trailer, we got a glimpse of newbie Housewife Jennie Nguyen. Jen called Jennie, “a little firecracker, okay?” And Jennie’s tagline, “I have plenty of everything including opinions,” hints at what we can expect from her in her freshman season.

During the Season 2 premiere, RHOSLC viewers finally got to meet Jennie, who is friends with Lisa. In fact, their two sons are best friends. That is cool that Jennie and Lisa are actually real-life besties. Jennie has a unique and heartbreaking history.

Jennie was born in Vietnam. When Jennie was seven years old, her family fled the country during the Vietnam War. They were discovered and captured by Thai pirates. The family was put in a refugee camp, where they remained for three years. A Christian church sponsored Jennie’s family and they emigrated to the U.S.

After living in California, Jennie moved to Utah after she was set up with her husband, Duy Nguyen, who is a chiropractor. He did an adjustment on Lisa’s son while Lisa’s family was visiting. Since Duy was Catholic, Jennie converted.

In an interview with TheWrap, Jennie discussed which RHOSLC cast member surprised her the most. “I did not have a relationship with them. So every single one of them really surprised me in different ways,” Jennie stated. “Like Jen [Shah], you think maybe she’s a certain way… But no, that’s actually really her.” I still am shocked that Jen is that extra in her normal life.

“There’s no filter. This is Jen. That’s what surprised me because I was prejudging [them],” Jennie shared. “And now when I’m on the show, it’s like, no, this is us. This is us in real life. There’s no acting here. This is true emotion,” she added. “This is true drama.”

Jennie looks like an interesting addition to the RHOSLC cast. I can’t wait to find out more about her, and her life.
