The Challenge is back and the first two episodes have been fire, as usual. They have showcased all of our new contestants, had some backstabbing and lies already and of course, featured some hookups. If you watch The Challenge, this should be of no surprise to you. What is surprising is how many happened so quickly.
As reported by Us Weekly, Challenge vet Josh Martinez talked about it on an episode of the “Watch With Us” podcast. Josh revealed, “Right off the rip, you see so many hookups. This season, there were so many hookups. You couldn’t even keep up. I mean, episode one, you saw, like, three or four hookups happened, and you’re going to see all those relationships play out, which are so f–king messy.”
And he’s not exaggerating. In the first episode alone, we saw Nany Gonzalez and Kaycee Clark hooking up. Ashley Mitchell and Nelson Thomas have had a thing going on for awhile now, which Nelson claims is casual. Then Fessy Shafaat and longtime villain Amanda Garcia were making out too.
Josh thinks the location had something to do with the romance vibe. He said, “We were in one of the sickest houses we’ve ever been in, there’s the hottest cast that has ever been in the house and we all came from quarantine. So people were hooking up left and right. I mean, I lost count, like, day five of who was hooking up with who. Everybody was just touching everybody and hooking up in every single corner.”
He also teased his own possible love interest this season and said, “I built a really good connection with Esther [Agunbiade].” While Josh is a Big Brother alumni, Esther is too – appearing on Big Brother Nigeria. He continued,”Esther was one of my favorite people in that house. She’s just so fun and so funny to be around. I think that you guys are going to be able to see that personality, so we hit it off. I don’t know what they’re going to show, but I definitely vibed with her.”

Longtime vet Tori Deal also had something to say about romance in the house. While she came in single and intended to keep her eye on the prize, she just couldn’t help herself. She admitted,“It was a good season to show up single. I love people. Let me just make some connections, have a good time. So that’s what I did — made some connections, had a good time. I mean, I definitely opened up more this season, just like letting the world kind of watch me have that connection. … Every other relationship I’ve had has been off screen. This is the kind of the first time where you see me build some stuff on screen.”
I can’t wait to see who else hooks up and how long they last. It’s one of my favorite part of the series. Stay tuned!
