Last season of Real Housewives of Potomac had a darker feel. Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard were involved in a physical altercation on October 16, 2019. Monique grabbed Candiace by her hair and pulled her down on a table. Candiace slapped Monique with a second-degree assault charge. Monique filed a second-degree assault complaint against Candiace.
The court dismissed both cases. Part of the bad blood between the RHOP co-stars seemed to center on an alleged plot to question the paternity of Monique’s son, Chase Samuels. Candiace claimed that she wasn’t actively involved in spreading the rumor.
Ashley Darby was Team Monique all the way, but she was the only one. Robyn Dixon, Gizelle Bryant (and her bodyguard) and Wendy Osefo had Candiace’s back. Grand Dame Karen Huger tried like hell to be Switzerland in this mess.
When Ashley told Candiace that she wrote a letter of support for Monique to the court, Candiace was furious. During the RHOP reunion, Monique literally brought out a bind of receipts. I salute you, Monique. That was iconic.
Monique announced in December of 2020 that she was exiting the franchise. Since no one wanted to film with Monique except for Ashley, and Monique’s pet bird T’Challa Samuels, the writing was on the wall.
Ashley recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live, and she fielded a question from a virtual viewer. “When was the last time you spoke with Monique and are the two of you still close?” the fan asked. “It was actually yesterday, and yes, we’re still close. That’s my girl,” Ashley stated. “That’s my girl!”

Host Andy Cohen asked Ashley, “Can you shed any light…to what happened with T’Challa?” First off, that was inappropriate to ask.
Ashley responded, “No. I cannot. Monique doesn’t want to share, so I’m going to respect that. That’s like her baby,” she said. “It was one of her children so I’m going to respect it.”
Andy remarked, “I know. I know. Yes.” But Andy still went for the tragic tea by asking Ashley. Oof.
Monique announced that T’Challa passed away recently. T’Challa was a big part of Monique’s family. Monique wrote on Instagram, “On July 1st around 5pm my entire world was rocked. My @tchallasamuels was killed in a freak accident. I barely can utter his name without crying,” she added. That is so sad!
During the most recent episode of RHOP, Candiace threw a pajama party at her mother’s condo to say goodbye to the place. Somehow, Candiace forgot to invite Ashley. Oops!

Ashley was busy at the time giving birth to her second child with her husband, Michael Darby. On March 24, 2021, Ashley posted a photo of her infant son on Instagram. She captioned it, “It is with the biggest, happiest and most grateful hearts we introduce our little angel, Dylan Matthew Darby. Born on 3/2/21 weighing 7.9 lbs, he has been the best addition to our little family.”
