Sonja Morgan Is Reportedly Launching Her Own Cabaret Show

Reality TV

Step aside Countess!  The self-proclaimed cabaret queen Luann de Lesseps has competition.  Well, officially that is, because Real Housewives of New York fans know that Sonja Morgan can run circles around Luann.  Both the ladies have stage presence and comedic timing, but Sonja’s certain degree of humility and vulnerability make her utterly charming onstage.  Unlike our countess, Sonja can poke fun at herself and we adore her for it all the more.

Sonja’s proved herself with a saucy burlesque show, and appeared in cameos on Luann’s show Countess And Friends.  And life is a stage dahling.  Sonja is always in character, whether she’s batting her eyes over a glass of bubbly, or prancing around her ruin of a townhouse.  She’s created a persona that she tried to market with her various business ventures.  While the toaster oven may not have worked, the idea of bringing Sonja’s character to life seems like a winner.

Sonja In Your City is described by Radar Online as, “a cabaret comedy show based out of New York.”  Hopefully that translates into a saucy montage of Sonja’s sauciest NY moments.  Because we KNOW the former wife of the Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan & Co. heir has lived her best life in Manhattan.

Unfortunately for those outside the tri-state area, Sonja In Your City will only show in Big Apple.  Comedy venues and dates are yet to be announced from coordinators Norm Laviolette and Jeremy Brothers, but a preview is scheduled for August 25th.

According to Radar Online, production company Asylum Theatricals is, “currently looking for people of all genders who are 18 and over to embark on the surely unique journey, offering a professional salary of $2,150 to $10,000.”  For those looking to audition, the website is offering payments of $2,000 for the rehearsal segments and $150 per show. Rehearsals are listed for the hours of 1 to 6 PM August 9th and 10th, and 2 to 5 PM August 11th, 12th, 17th, and 18th.

Meanwhile Sonja’s RHONY cabaret competitor Countess And Friends will resume in December for the holiday season.  Luann will be traveling for her shows.  The first venue is the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota on December 4th.  Boston Massachusetts venue The Wilbur will host Luann’s second show on December 18th.  The Countess will grace Huntington, New York on December 19th at The Paramount.  And finally, Luann will appear on December 26th at the Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Of course, RHONY fans can only wonder how this encroachment on Luann’s territory will play out on the show.  Luann’s ego will not take kindly to Sonja’s new venture.  One remembers how viciously Luann rescinded her invitation for Sonja to appear in her show after Sonja complained that she was underpaid.

It seems that Eboni K. Williams’guidance for Sonja this season is manifesting in this venture.  It’s time Sonja stood up for herself, both personally and professionally.
