Married at First Sight is one of my guilty pleasures. I must admit that there are some crazy matches on that series. But there are also some sweet love stories to come out of this social experiment. Season 13 of the series is underway in Texas, with a new bunch of hopefuls ready to walk down the aisle.
During Season 10, network technician Austin Hurd married Jessica Studer. Jessica is a nurse manager. The quirky couple hit it off for the most part, but they did face some challenges.
Austin wasn’t comfortable saying “I love you.” Jessica had some rigid behavior, like an early bedtime. And Jessica was very concerned about Austin’s travel schedule.
But on Decision Day, this duo decided to stay married. Austin gave Jessica the most romantic gift ever–he finally said “I love you” for the first time. Out of the five couples that tied the knot that season, Jessica and Austin were the only ones to stay married.
On August 26, 2020, Jessica posted on Instagram about their newest furry family member. “Happy #nationaldogday to our newest family member Rex. This spunky little guy has brought so much energy to our household since we got him as a rescue,” Jessica wrote.
Jessica popped on Instagram in March of 2021 with another update. She posted, “A little late but in the fall, we purchased our first home! It’s crazy to think that only a year and a half ago we met and married as strangers, moved to two apartments, got a dog, Austin changed his job, I moved up in my career, and now we’re homeowners!”
People reported that the couple, who will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in August, are expecting their first child together. Jessica shared, “Austin and I are super excited about this new adventure of parenthood! We both knew we wanted to be parents when we met but wanted to wait for the time to be right.” That is such amazing news!
“Now that we have been married for almost two years and are a little more settled with a house, we are as ready as we can be,” Jessica stated. “I know Austin is going to be a great dad, and I can’t wait for November 2021 to meet baby H.”
Jessica shared the news of their pregnancy on Instagram. “It’s true! Can’t wait to meet baby H this fall,” she wrote. Her comments page was flooded with love from their MAFS family.

Jamie Otis Hehner commented, “Congrats mama!!!! So happy for you!” Season 9 star Elizabeth Bice (also known as Beth Bice) wrote, “Ahhhhh!!!!! Scream it to the roof top!!! Congratulations Jess and Austin!”
New parents Deonna McNeill and Greg Okotie also weighed in. “Yay!!!!! Congrats!!!” Deonna wrote. Greg posted, “Congrats!!!!” with the hallelujah emoji. Season 5’s Ashley Petta said, “Congrats! I am so happy for you guys! You are going to be great parents!”
Austin also shared his joy with an Instagram post of his own. In his cute announcement, he wore a blue shirt with the lettering “Have You Hurd The News?” Jessica’s shirt said, “We’re expecting!” The parents-to-be held out hats that said “dad” and “mom.”
“From the moment we said I do we wanted to get to this point. A next chapter to our lives is starting soon with a new character,” Austin wrote. “Beyond excited for what all happens next.”
