California Bar Admits “Mistakes” Handling Years Of Complaints Against Tom Girardi

Reality TV

Erika Girardi

It looks like Real Housewives of Beverly Hills viewers are on the cusp of learning what exactly it is Erika Jayne goes through at night. The latest episode of the show ended with a group text. Always fun. This time it was an announcement that Erika would be divorcing her husband of 22 years, Tom Girardi. While the Housewives all seemed appropriately shocked, fans have been waiting for this moment for what feels like years.

Erika made her divorce filing public on Election Day back in November. If that was her attempt to fly under the radar, it was an epic failure. This story has been an absolute roller-coaster ride since it started. Erika now faces penalties for doxxing Tom’s alleged mistress. Tom either has dementia or is claiming to in an attempt to skirt some responsibility for his alleged actions. There was even a point where Erika was selling her designer clothes in a possible attempt to recoup some of the money she swindled via Tom. Supposedly, RHOBH will be putting it all out there. It’s what we deserve.

Reality fans aren’t the only ones clamoring to this case, either. The State Bar of California has come under fire recently for their handling of this case. The situation was reported on by a local news station, KTLA. They reported that the California Bar acknowledged on June 10th that its investigators had mishandled years of complaints against Tom Girardi. That’s right, years. How exactly does that happen?

The article called the admission “stunning.” It’s reported that the confession came after an LA Times article in March gave detail into Tom’s pristine licensure. Tom had somehow managed to keep his reputation with the California Bar sparklin. That’s despite having more than 100 lawsuits filed against himself and/or his firm.

Many of the 100+ lawsuits filed against Tom were for misappropriation of funds. I can only assume a portion of these misappropriated funds were from some of the victims whose stories we have already shared. Or the “widows and orphans”, as Dorit Kemsely put it.

The LA Times article alleged that Tom maintained close relationships with employees of the bar. He did this by treating them to “wine-soaked lunches at Morton’s, casino parties in Las Vegas, and private plane rides.” The LA power broker file audit, released June 10th,  “revealed mistakes made in some investigations over the many decades of Mr. Girardi’s career.” These errors “go back some 40 years and spanning the tenure of many Chief Trial Counsels.” That must’ve been a lot of wine he soaked these f*cks with!

An audit conducted by an outside consultant was said to have “identified significant issues” in the “investigation and evaluation of high-dollar, high volume trust accounts,” according to the bar. It just keeps getting worse for these two. Now with investigators hot on Erika and Tom’s tail, it will be interesting to see the edit RHOBH and Bravo hand out.
