Gizelle Bryant Says She And Jamal Bryant Broke Up

Reality TV

Gizelle Bryant spent four seasons on the Real Housewives of Potomac with the narrative that her ex-husband Jamal Bryant was a serial cheater.  She revealed her past as the first lady of Jamal’s church in a memoir which was shared with the other RHOP ladies during a tea ceremony.  Gizelle took her role as the face of the church seriously, and ignored Jamal’s behaviors for some time.  But when she was ready to leave, she really really left and raised their three daughters on her own.

Gizelle dated retired NBA star  Sherman Douglas, before dumping him after he ghosted her for multiple RHOP events.  Sherman wasn’t excited about the comments Monique Samuels made about him.  Since then, Gizelle was quiet about her love life, until it took an unexpected turn on Season 5.   And once again, Monique had a negative opinion to voice.

Throughout Season 5, Gizelle was dating her ex-husband Jamal.  Even their daughters were skeptical.  Gizelle and Jamal were nurturing a long-distance relationship with the pastor only appearing once, maybe twice, during the entire season.  The rest of the time Gizelle was left to defend him and their decision to reunite.  At the season reunion, Monique accused Jamal of infidelity.  The whole situation was questionable.  Did Gizelle and Jamal get together for the story line?

Recently, Gizelle and her RHOP co-star Robyn Dixon joined The Breakfast Club radio show to discuss their new podcast, the show, and their personal lives.  At one point, the hosts compared Gizelle’s relationship with that of Robyn and her husband Juan Dixon.  Robyn too divorced her husband, and reunited in a later stage of their lives.

Unfortunately, Gizelle had to reveal that she and Jamal broke up.  Cheatsheet.com transcribed what was said during the broadcast.   “There’s an update, there’s a plot twist,” Gizelle said, “we were working on us getting back together and being back together but he lives in Atlanta and I live in Maryland and with the pandemic, we realize it’s just not the right time.  It’s just not going to work.”

Jamal was coming to visit so infrequently during RHOP filming, that it’s hard to believe the pandemic caused that much of a disruption.  But Gizelle isn’t wallowing in tears and self-pity.  Word on the street is that she is enjoying the single life again.

“Right now I am footloose and fancy-free,” Gizelle said, “I am single. I am enjoying my hot girl summer, spring, winter, and fall.”

And Jamal isn’t completely out of Gizelle’s life.  The two are still co-parenting their daughters, and maintain a close friendship. “Jamal will always be in my life,” she insisted, “he’s the father to all of my kids. We’ve been together and in each other’s lives for 25 years. He is one of my best friends and I to him. I don’t know anyone more than I know a Jamal Bryant.”
