The first details for Guild Wars 2‘s next major expansion, End of Dragons, will arrive this summer on July 27, according to developer ArenaNet. End of Dragons represents a high-priority project for the development team, evidenced by the indefinite delay of Guild Wars 2’s Steam release. Originally slated for November 2020, the Steam launch was put on hold to give ArenaNet the time and resources necessary to focus on completing the third expansion. The fruits of the crew’s labor will soon come to bear, too.
Guild Wars 2 fans are invited to join a livestream on July 27 that will boast the first official details about the MMORPG’s End of Dragons content. Specifically, ArenaNet plans to share news regarding the new expansion’s setting and narrative; information concerning future beta events will emerge during the July 27 reveal, as well. In addition, the development team has unleashed the following pieces of concept art for End of Dragons.
Guild Wars 2 has suffered mightily in recent years due to issues that plague the game, along with layoffs at ArenaNet. Yet, the title continues to hold firm, surviving nearly a decade of highs and lows while other MMORPGs have come and gone without a trace.
It seems as though End of Dragons will give the fantasy title a needed boost, though players will have to wait a little longer to learn exactly what that may entail. And, at present, it’s not clear how much more time may pass before fans can finally go hands on with the new experience for themselves.
Guild Wars 2 is available to play now on PC, but the eagerly-anticipated End of Dragons expansion still lacks a launch date.
