Deonna McNeill and Greg Okotie tied the knot as strangers in 2019 on Season 9 of Married at First Sight. This couple is one of my all-time favorites. The road to decision day wasn’t a smooth one, however.
Greg had trouble getting Deonna to open up to him. Deonna felt like Greg was always in his head, overthinking everything. Deonna and Greg were discussing expanding their family last season on the Married at First Sight spin off Married at First Sight: Couples Cam.
In September of 2020, the couple announced that their family was indeed expanding. In a statement, the duo said, “We are pregnant! It’s surreal to think that less than two years ago we met for the first time at the altar and now we are expanding our family! We are blessed to begin this new chapter and can’t wait to meet our little bundle of joy.”
Greg and Deonna also shared the news on Instagram. The couple wore jeans and matching blue shirts in the cute photo. A sign in front of them read, “Okotie Party of 3.” I loved this! Viewers of Married at First Sight: Couple Cam Season 2 have been watching Deonna and Greg prepping to welcome their baby.
E! News reported that Deonna and Greg welcomed their first child on February 27, 2021. The couple stated, “We are so blessed and excited to welcome our baby boy, Declan, into the world. We’re all healthy and doing well, just happy to be home as a family of three!” Declan weighed 6 lbs., 9 oz at birth.

Greg also shared the news of Declan’s arrival on Instagram, along with a photo of his son. “Our little man has arrived! Everyone meet Declan Okotie! He came into the world over the weekend and it was a journey (36 hrs of labor,)” Greg wrote. “I don’t know how Deonna dealt with all of that pain for so long but she did and I’m beyond happy, proud, and in awe of her!!”
The proud new father continued, “We’re so blessed! Deonna and Declan are healthy and doing well! Now we’re just trying to get used to our new normal!” Greg added, “Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes! He’s finally here!! #newtothecrew #fatherhood #dadlife #dadsofinstagram #mafslifetime #mafs #mafsbaby #prouddad.” Greg added a smiling face emoji to his post.
According to E! News, the new parents wanted their fans to know that they may be more private now that Declan has made his grand entrance. Deonna shared, “We signed up to be public figures, but our child really didn’t so to be able to keep some things private and to ourselves will allow for our child to be able to make those decisions when they grow up.” She added, “Is this something you want to be a part of? Yes or no?” I wish more celebrity parents would embrace a similiar plan.
