Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans heard about Yolanda Hadid’s (then Yolanda Foster) struggles with Lyme Disease during her final seasons on the shows.
Her castmates questioned how truthful she was because some days she “looked fine.” And don’t even mention the word “Munchausen” because I’m still burned out from its use during Yolanda’s final season.
Yes, Yolanda looked beautiful/healthy/like her old self sometimes, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t struggling. In fact, she really was in a tough place, which she admitted during a recent interview with British Vogue.
She recalled, “I used to be a multitasking, single mother-of-three and social butterfly who, slowly, started to lose her magical powers.” Yolanda launched her daughter Gigi Hadid’s modeling career on the show, with Bella Hadid and Anwar Hadid following suit.
Yolanda said that she was pained with “severe fatigue,” “joint pain,” and “brain fog.” She admitted to “feeling depressed.”

On top of all that, Yolanda had to deal with women who were questioning her for looking good while she was sick. Yolanda explained, “Like with many chronic diseases and mental health issues, the unfortunate truth is that you appear to be healthy on the outside, which is difficult for people to reconcile.”
She added, “It’s much easier for us to have compassion for somebody with visible external symptoms. Most people still don’t seem to believe that chronic Lyme disease even exists. As the saying goes: you don’t truly get it until you get it.”
“I can’t begin to describe the darkness, the pain and the hell I lived through every day,” Yolanda said. She even confused, “For some time, it didn’t even feel like living at all. This disease brought me to my knees. Many nights I wished to die, and prayed I would just be free of the pain.”
She credited Gigi, Bella, and Anwar for helping her make it through, admitting, “If it weren’t for my children, I don’t think I would be here today.”
