See You Around, Kid: 10 Awesome Fan Art Pieces of Star Wars’ Kylo Ren

Movies

Kylo Ren is one of the main characters in the sequel trilogy and is super loved by many fans of the saga. Not only is he the son of Han and Leia, two of the greatest heroes in Star Wars, but also the grandson of Darth Vader, the most notorious villain in probably all media. Kylo Ren fell to the dark side after feeling like too much had been expected from him and he felt uncared for by those who should love him the most.

In the sequel trilogy, he becomes a dyad in the force along with Rey. The two are constantly opposing forces who have a much deeper connection than either of them realize. He is beloved by so many, for so many reasons, whether it’s due to his tantrums, style, appearance, or overall character, he is probably the best aspect of the sequel trilogy and often is the center of many fan art pieces that are based on the last three movies.

10 Supreme Leader

Kittrose Kylo Ren Fanart

Kylo Ren is a dark side user and has a strong affinity to the force. But while he probably could use it better than anyone, in these three movies, he also is totally blinded by rage. This art piece, done by Kittrose on Twitter, totally displays that immense power.

The red static coming from his fingers and arms resembles an even more aggressive version of the Sith force-lightning. The way it burns up his arms is super intense as if the lightning is not only destroying everything around him but also himself.

9 The Dark Side Of The Force

This art piece was done after The Force Awakens by Eve Ventrue and actually became extremely popular after the movie’s release.

This piece of Kylo Ren is utterly fantastic and mysterious. He is clad in his black robes, armor, and helmet, and something about it almost doesn’t look human. With the sunset behind him and the desert terrain, it looks like he could be standing on Tatooine, Jakku, or even Pasaana.

8 The Throne Room

Amelia Lola Kylo Ren Rey Fan art

Amelia Lola (@machodoodle on Twitter) created this super adorable fan art of Rey and Kylo Ren in the big throne room scene at the end of The Last Jedi. In this scene, Rey and Kylo fight together, back to back, against a bunch of Elite Praetorian Guards after killing Snoke.

This scene was a pinnacle moment for fans of the sequel trilogy as Kylo finally showed audiences his allegiances. He grew to care for Rey and wasn’t quite ready to see her die or hurt by the hands of his master who he no longer believed in. The way this is drawn is so well done and also shows the confusion but determination in Kylo Ren’s eyes for choosing to fight by her side.

7 The Dyad

From The Force Awakens, something seemed up with Kylo Ren and Rey. There was a dynamic there that went deeper than just random enemies on opposing sides. This fan art piece done by Withoutafuss on DeviantArt managed to capture that perfectly.

This piece of Kylo is based on the forest fight the two have at the end of Episode VII. Fans can see Rey’s lightsaber reflected in Kylo’s eyes along with the shine on his face.

6 The Dark Side Of The Moon

Star Wars Kylo by Jodie Muir

Kylo Ren is pretty mysterious, and in this piece, it seems like the artist (@jodiemuirart on Instagram) tried to express that mystery by comparing Kylo Ren to the moon. Towards the bottom of this fan art, there is a small rim of a crescent moon.

These shining lights could very well be relating to his lightsaber, but something about the shape of it, along with the dark hood he wears, makes it feel like he is being compared to the dark side of the moon. In fact, Kylo ren’s entire character in the sequel saga could often be compared to this, as he is so close to the light but often stuck in the dark, just like how a moon could be full of light or totally void of it depending on the phase.

5 The Leader Of The Knights Of Ren

Kylo Ren is often compared to an angsty teen. He has a couple of tantrums throughout the movies, which just make him even more loveable. OlayaValle on DeviantArt managed to capture this personality trait perfectly.

Here, Kylo looks to be leaning against something, his arms are crossed, hood up, and his eyes are closed. He looks totally annoyed like he is about to burst into rage and trying desperately to keep his cool.

4 Kylo In The Woods

This amazing painting was done by Santiago Lozano on ArtStation and is so absolutely amazing in color and style. The skinny and long characteristics the artist gave him are utterly fantastic and really fit well with Kylo Ren. This scene seems to be based on the forest fight scene in The Force Awakens but has Kylo in his helmet as he looks on presumably at Finn and Rey.

Kylo is wearing the same outfit he wears in Episode VII, with his hood down and the lightsaber shining against the snowy landscape in the coolest way ever.

3 A Royal

Technically, Kylo Ren is a prince. Well, Ben Solo is at least. He not only is the son to Princess Leia, who was next in line to rule over Alderaan had it not fallen to the Deathstar, but also the grandson of Padme, who had been the queen of Naboo at some point (which also had fallen after the events of The Return of the Jedi).

Many fans refer to him as a prince now because of his royal blood, and he definitely takes after his mother and grandmother in style, over his father and grandfather, which Yuki119 from DeviantArt manages to capture perfectly.

2 Yin & Yang

Elithien Kylo Ren Ben Solo Fanart

This beautiful fan art done by the artist, @Elithienart on Instagram is an absolutely amazing piece that depicts the duality of Kylo Ren and Ben Solo. Before he fell to the dark side, Kylo Ren was Ben Solo, the son to Leia and Han, and padawan to Luke Skywalker, his uncle.

But Ben eventually abandoned that name and became Kylo Ren once he fell to the dark side. This piece shows that Kylo and Ben are similar to that of Yin and Yang, he has the light and dark, though the character always struggled to find the balance between the two.

1 The Light

Kylo Ren Mica Sky Fan art

Kylo Ren was constantly called to the light side, the entire time he wore the mask and called himself Kylo Ren. This piece, by @MicaSkyArtworks on Twitter, perfectly captures that. Kylo is shroud in darkness, even fading into the starry sky of the galaxy. He has a red outline of his mask that continuously threatens to cover and hide his face, but a pair of white hands beam out of the bright light behind him.

The quote behind says “It’s still calling me,” something he says in regards to the light. The hands could be interpreted as a number of people, himself, Han Solo, Leia Organa, or even Rey. The artist also made a Rey counterpart that is extremely similar but with a blue outline of her headpiece and goggles, she wore in the first film.
