David Bowie’s John Lennon and Bob Dylan Covers Getting Official Release

Music, News

David Bowie recorded two covers in 1998 that went officially unreleased. Both of them are getting an official vinyl and streaming release next month on what would’ve been Bowie’s 74th birthday. His renditions of John Lennon’s “Mother” and Bob Dylan’s “Tryin’ to Get to Heaven” will be released on January 8 both digitally and on 7″ vinyl.

The Lennon cover was recorded with Tony Visconti for a Lennon tribute that didn’t materialize. His version of Dylan’s song was recorded during the mixing sessions for the 1999 live album LiveAndWell.com. A live album recorded by Bowie in 1995, No Trendy Réchauffé, was released last month.
