Along with Mickey and his cohorts, the series will include a cameo by Humphrey the Bear. Introduced in the 1950s, the character is one of Disney’s most popular supporting players. Butch the Bulldog, Pluto’s nemesis in classic cartoons, is also seen in one of the photos as Mickey casually strolls by. The revival similarly harkens back to popular shorts, such as “Three Little Pigs”, “Brave Little Tailor”, and “Steamboat Willie”. The inclusions should provide Disney+ subscribers with a hit of nostalgia, while also honoring the long history of Disney shorts which stretch back to the 1920s.

Executive producer Paul Radish and composer Christopher Willis are clearly aware of the illustrious history involved, as the animated series will work in Pluto’s theme and the indelible song When You Wish Upon A Star.
