Bly Manor: Who Plays The Older Version Of All Characters

Movies

The Haunting Of Bly Manor begins on the eve of an unknown couple’s wedding in 2007, but by the series’ end, it’s revealed that those in attendance—as well as the bride herself—are survivors of the haunted manor and its tragic events. Here’s every actor who portrayed the older versions of each character.

Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting Of Bly Manor is adapted from Henry James’s 1898 novella The Turn Of The Screw. It begins the same way as the original story with a narrator introducing the events that will transpire at a ghost filled home in England. Starring several returning cast members from the hit series The Haunting Of Hill Houseit follows Danielle “Dani” Clayton (Victoria Pedretti) as she navigates her new position as the au pair to Miles and Flora Wingrave. Upon arriving to the manor, she discovers that there are ghosts hidden throughout its entirety and Flora uses a doll house to track their every movement. When the lady of the lake threatens to take Flora to her watery grave, Dani allows her to enter her body, which saves everyone in the process. However, as the clock ticks on her new relationship with Jamie (Amelia Eve), it isn’t long before she returns to Bly Manor to accept her inescapable fate.

The Haunting of Bly Manor ends essentially where it begins as the narrator closes the story. It’s revealed that the bride’s middle name is Flora, inferring that she is the little girl who was once inflicted with the horrors at Bly. As the wedding reception begins, the narrator looks around the room and the guests begin to take the form of their younger selves once more in what is the series’ final, bittersweet twist.

Jamie / The Narrator

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Jamie

Carla Gugino and Kate Siegel were arguably two of Mike Flanagan’s best kept secrets, as their roles were not unveiled until the series released on Netflix. Gugino portrays the narrator, who is later revealed to be Jamie the gardener. She introduces the story at Flora’s wedding as a form of remembrance. While she does not share the same curly brown locks as her younger self, her dark green attire and gold necklace are subtle nods towards her true identity.

Flora Wingrave

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Flora

The young Flora Wingrave is portrayed by Amelie Bea Smith, the voice of the titular character in the children’s series Peppa Pig. She is the most connected to the spirits of the house, but when she and her brother moved away, forgot everything about the manor. Christie Burke plays the older version of Flora. She is known for her role as Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. The older version of Flora physically resembles Charlotte Wingrave, her mother, more than she does her younger self, but she remains as sensitive and caring as she was in her youth.

Miles Wingrave

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Miles

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth portrays Miles Wingrave, the troubled young boy of the manor who gets possessed by Peter Quint (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) on several occasions. In his adulthood he’s played by Thomas Nicholson, who seems to share some similarities with Miles’ ghostly tormentor more than Ainsworth. His hair is styled similarly to Peter Quint’s, and they both share defined jawlines. The narrator is intentional about her descriptions about each character in her story in order to ensure that no one present becomes aware that it is about them. It’s likely that she applied characteristics of other characters to achieve this and, in turn, keep everyone safe from their memories.

Henry Wingrave

Henry Thomas of The Haunting Of Hill House returns as Henry Wingrave for the 1987 story setting. His older counterpart is actor Duncan Fraser, who appears as a refined elderly man who cares deeply for Flora, his biological daughter. They both share a pensive and stern look that viewers grew familiar to during the majority of the story.

Owen Sharma

The Haunting Of Bly Manor Owen Sharma

Rahul Kohli’s Owen Sharma has a major height difference with his older counterpart, Kamal Khan. It’s theorized that this was intentional, and meant to dissuade anyone from believing the two had any similarities. However, their knack for puns would’ve surely given it away. Both the older and younger Owen are filled with a wealth of quick-witted puns that often don’t land. The two share more physical differences than personality-related ones. The older cast of the surviving characters of The Haunting Of Bly Manor’s horrors were all intentionally given distinct differences to ensure Flora and Miles would never remember the ghosts of their youth.
