Chicago-born, Atlanta-based rapper King Von has died after he was shot outside an Atlanta nightclub early this morning (November 6), according to a spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department. King Von was 26 years old. According to the spokesperson, the shooting involved two groups of men and two off-duty police officers. Three people have died from wounds suffered during the incident, while three others have been hospitalized; the officers are not injured. Atlanta Police Homicide investigators are looking into who is responsible for the fatal gunshots.
King Von grew up on the South Side of Chicago. He began rapping around 2018 after multiple jail stints. He quickly signed with his friend and collaborator Lil Durk’s Only the Family (OTF) label. In December 2018, Von released his breakout song “Crazy Story,” which appeared on Durk’s Only the Family Involved Vol. 2 label compilation. Von went on to release “Crazy Story 2.0” (featuring Lil Durk) and “Crazy Story, Pt. 3.”
King Von released his debut mixtape Grandson, Vol. 1 in September 2019. He followed the tape with his Levon James project in March 2020. Von released his debut album, Welcome to O-Block, just one week ago. The record includes guest spots from Lil Durk, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Fivio Foreign, and others.
