Arcade Fire were the musical guests on Stephen Colbert’s election special (which is titled Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building Back America Great Again Better 2020). The special aired on SHOWTIME as election results took over Colbert’s usual CBS broadcast time. The band performed a new song called “Generation A,” which Colbert said is “inspired by the current climate of the country,” and called “a hopeful message to the youths.” Watch the band play “Generation A” below.

Arcade Fire recently performed “Culture War” for Eaux Claires Festival’s “For Wisconsin” get out the vote campaign. Arcade Fire’s last album Everything Now came out in 2017. They’ve recently promised that a new album is in the works, and, earlier this year, they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their 2010 album The Suburbs.
