Watch Tracy Chapman Sing “Go Vote” in Rare TV Performance on Seth Meyers

Music, News

Tracy Chapman made a rare television appearance on tonight’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. She performed her song “Talkin’ ’Bout a Revolution” from her self-titled debut. The performance, delivered partially in silhouette, is broadcasting the night before Election Day and closes the song with a slight lyrical tweak. “Talkin’ ’bout a revolution/go vote,” she sang as the word “VOTE” appeared behind her. Watch it below.

While Chapman has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, she has occasionally made public appearances for political reasons. In 2004, she joined Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. during stops of the Vote For Change tour that endorsed John Kerry’s presidential bid.

In September, a judge issued a ruling on Chapman’s 2018 copyright infringement lawsuit against Nicki Minaj over her song “Sorry,” which interpolates Chapman’s “Baby Can I Hold You,” declaring the interpolation was protected by the doctrine of fair use.
