2 Chainz and Rick Ross’ Verzuz Battle: Here’s What Happened

Music, News

Rick Ross and 2 Chainz went head-to-head on Verzuz tonight (August 6). During the livestream, Ross shared an unreleased verse he recorded for Kanye West’s “Famous.” They both shared new songs that are coming out tonight: 2 Chainz debuted “Money Maker” featuring Lil Wayne, and Ross shared “Pin Me to the Cross.”

When 2 Chainz dropped Juicy J’s “Bandz a Make Her Dance,” two masked strippers came into the room to dance in front of the camera. “Essential workers,” he told them. At one point, Ross received an extensive massage. Find a rundown of how each round played out below, and listen to a playlist featuring the music from the battle.

Timbaland and Swizz Beats launched the Verzuz series in the spring. Over 20 rounds, Instagram Live audiences score competitors as they pit their biggest hits against each other. Earlier installments have included face-offs between Ludacris and Nelly, Lil Jon and T Pain, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg and DMX, plus more.

Rick Ross’ most recent album was Port of Miami 2, which he released last August. Earlier in the year, he joined Dwayne Wayde and Raphael Saadiq on the February track “Season Ticket Holder.” In January, 2 Chainz and Future released their collaborative track “Dead Man Walking.”
