Retro Shooter ‘S.C.A.R.’ Brings Frenetic Chaos to Steam This July

Horror

We can always use another retro-inspired shooter, and that’s exactly what indie developers Savage Studios are doing with its visceral over-the-top shooter, S.C.A.R., or Simulating Carnage And Rockets. Launching on Steam on July 16th with its first episode, the “nostalgic nod to the epic shooters of yesteryear” harkens back to the days of Quake III Arena with its frenetic gameplay. Plus, you get a grappling hook.

There’s not much story to go on at the moment for S.C.A.R., but just know that you face endless hordes of monsters and demons with your blood on their mind. You’ll be slaying your way through multiple stages with lots of weapons at your disposal, utilizing portals to navigate. Time well spent, as they say.

According to the game’s roadmap, you can expect five episodes in all, each with a new assortment of baddies and weapons. If you can’t wait (and who can’t?), you can check out the game’s demo on Steam right now.
