Watch Randy Newman Play “Mr. President” on Fallon

Music, News

Randy Newman stopped by the latest remote edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he performed “Mr. President (Have Pity on the Working Man)” from his 1974 album Good Old Boys. “This is a song I wrote back in the Pleistocene era,” Newman joked. “But it’s become relevant again.” Watch Newman’s performance below.

Back in April, Newman shared a social distancing-inspired song called “Stay Away,” which he performed the following month on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Newman’s last studio album was 2017’s Dark Matter. Earlier this year, he played his Toy Story 4 song “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” at the 2020 Oscars. The track was nominated for Best Original Song, while Newman’s work on the music for Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story was nominated for Best Original Score.
