“The Walking Dead”: Greg Nicotero Promises a Jaw-Dropping Season 10 Finale Later This Year

Horror

Originally set to air with the rest of the episodes in April, the 10th season finale of “The Walking Dead” was delayed due to the pandemic, as post-production could not be completed in time. The finale will instead air later this year, though we haven’t been provided with a date.

The second-to-last episode of the tenth season left us dangling off a cliff, with Beta leading a massive horde of walkers to an abandoned building that our heroes have been hiding out in. The war with the Whisperers will surely reach a bloody conclusion in the season’s finale, and director Greg Nicotero teases it’ll be a jaw-dropper in a chat with Fandom this week.

It’s one of my favorite episodes of the season,” Nicotero told the site. “It tees us up so well for Season 11 that it’s a little agonizing for me to not be able to talk about it. The last two minutes of the finale are gonna just… people’s jaws are gonna drop.”

He continued, “Our group is now having to deal with this giant, massive [horde]… thousands of zombies surrounding where they’re safe. There’s a lot of character storylines [where] you get little bits of information here and here, but you want to end that chapter and then start the next chapter in the finale. So we address lots of stuff with Daryl, Negan, Beta, Carol… There’s always that challenge of pushing the visuals and pushing the story and pushing the emotion.”

Maggie (Lauren Cohan) will also be brought back into the mix in the Season 10 finale. The episode is titled “A Certain Doom,” and you can preview what’s coming down below.
