Watch Randy Newman Perform “Stay Away” on Colbert

Music, News

Randy Newman stopped by the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and performed his public service announcement song “Stay Away.” “People are saying it’s the greatest song ever written or that they’ve heard,” he said. “A lot of people are saying it. I’m not—it’s they who are saying it.” Check it out below.

“Everybody stay safe,” he added after the performance. “It sounds simple and it is. Stay away, wash your hands, don’t touch your face. Don’t touch mine, either.”

Last month, Newman shared the COVID-19-inspired song for a Southern California radio station. In February he performed his Oscar-nominated song from Toy Story 4, “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away” at the Academy Awards.
