Claes Bang Says He’d Love to Play “Dracula” Again for a Second Season of the BBC/Netflix Series

Horror

This year kicked off with a bang with the arrival of BBC’s series “Dracula” on Netflix here in the States (read our review), a three-episode tale starring Claes Bang as the title character.

Without spoiling anything for those who’ve yet to watch Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s take on the classic blood-sucker, the story wraps up rather nicely at the end of the third and final episode, but that certainly doesn’t mean the series couldn’t continue if the folks in charge decided they wanted it to. After all, is “the end” ever truly the end for a monster like Dracula?

Speaking with Collider this week, Bang weighed in on a potential second season.

That’s absolutely something that I think is being discussed, but I don’t think there’s any news, at all,” the actor told the site. “I haven’t heard anything. I would be super happy to do one more [season]. I’d love to go back with all of those people, and do more. It was were really fulfilling and lovely, and really, really cool to do.”

He continued, “I have actually tried to find out if something was happening, but I don’t think they have started the discussions yet. I think what’s going on is that Netflix and the BBC are evaluating how it’s done, and all of that. So, unfortunately, I can’t tell you anything because I don’t know, at this point. I would actually love to know, and I would love to do one more, but there’s no news in that department yet.

“Dracula” plays out more like a feature film trilogy than it does a series and once you get into the tone it’s a bloody good time, offering a timely new take, and takedown, of Dracula.

You can stream all three episodes on Netflix. And I recommend you do.
