Joe Giudice On Why It Was “Painful” To Watch Real Housewives Of New Jersey While He Was In Prison

I am still struggling with the secondhand awkwardness induced by Teresa and Joe Giudice’s post-ICE interview with Andy Cohen. I could feel the tension between the screen as the estranged spouses accused each other of cheating and talked about how they didn’t find their partner attractive while in prison.

That special was only an hour, which means there was plenty of footage left on the cutting room floor. Recently, some unreleased footage came to light with Joe talking about how tough it was to watch Real Housewives of New Jersey while he was in prison.

In a clip released by People, Joe said, “It was actually painful to watch on television It was actually sad.” I may or may not have cried watching the Giudice girls say goodbye to their father.

Specifically, Joe remarked, “I saw the one episode where my daughter was waving through the window while I was leaving to go to Fort Dix [Federal Correctional Institution]. And that was gut-wrenching to watch that.” It truly was.

At another point, Joe said to Teresa and Andy, “I did see yous a couple of times [on Watch What Happens Live]. When I was in Fort Dix, the first federal prison, there was this one guy Jack [who] loved Bravo. So he always had the Bravo channel on. When I got to the other prison, which was Allenwood, there wasn’t anybody who had that channel on too much. It was only on once in a while so I was able to catch clips here and there, but not as much as the first.” This was probably for the best, since Teresa spent the most recent episodes talking about how she resents Joe because she was in jail right before her mother passed away. She also said she would probably divorce him if he got deported.

Still, Joe admitted, “I would watch a little bit here and there. I didn’t watch it that much, but I would watch certain things here and there. I more read magazines and stuff like that.” And Teresa’s comments about their marriage were probably all over those magazines. Those had to be tough to read too.
