Audika Records is releasing a new collection of Arthur Russell demos. The 19-track album, Iowa Dream, is out November 15. Below, hear a song called “You Did It Yourself.”
According to Audika, “Several tracks on Iowa Dream Russell originally recorded as demos, in two early examples of his repeated brushes with potential popular success—first in 1974, with Paul Nelson of Mercury Records, and then in 1975, with the legendary John Hammond of Columbia Records.” The sessions did not culminate in a record deal.
Earlier this year, a song by Arthur Russell called “Not Checking Up” was released as part of Devendra Banhart’s Fragments du Monde Flottant compilation.
