New set photos from The Flash season 6 surface, potentially teasing the arrival of Negative Flash. Premiering next week, The Flash is about to enter its biggest season yet, as the iconic hero prepares for the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The Flash has remained one of the most popular superhero shows on television for its protagonist and emphasis on comic book action. Last season saw major developments, including the return of Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash. The cliffhanger teased a “Crisis” coming this year, which fans know to be the massive Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. The Flash season 6 will directly tie into the big event. Before that, though, Barry will have to face a new villain called Bloodwork. The hero is certainly going to be busy, and if new set photos say anything, Barry may have to deal with a new transformation.
Filming for The Flash season 6 was recently done in Vancouver, and new set photos (via Hollywood North) might tease a major transformation for Barry Allen. According to Hollywood North, this was filming for episode 8, titled “The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Part 2.” As fans will see, the photos potentially tease Barry becoming the Negative Flash. Check out the photos below.
Barry is certainly appearing grimmer based on the set photos, as evidenced by the darkened fingers. Negative Flash appeared two years ago in the comics. In the story, the Reverse-Flash trapped Barry in the Negative Speed Force. This changed Barry, giving his costume a darker look with black streaks. Interestingly, Bloodwork debuted when Barry was Negative Flash. Bloodwork will be the villain for the first part of season 6, so everything lines up almost too perfectly. This is not a confirmation of course, but it seems possible that Barry will gain power from the Negative Speed Force in the upcoming season.
There is a lot of mystery surrounding The Flash season 6. It’s not known how the show will look going forward after the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Based on set photos from earlier in the year, Godspeed is returning at some point during the season. If Barry turns into the Negative Flash in episode 8, that could mean he uses this form during the Crisis. At the same time, it’s hard to picture Barry not in his standard form alongside all the other heroes, but time will tell.
The Flash season 6 premieres October 8 on The CW.
