Emmys 2019: Fleabag Wins Outstanding Comedy Series

Acclaimed British comedy-drama series Fleabag has won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 71st Emmy Awards tonight. Creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge was present at the awards ceremony in Los Angeles, where she gave a brief acceptance speech. The final season of Fleabag beat out shows such as Barry, The Good Place, Veep, Russian Doll, Schitt’s Creek, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel for the award. Waller-Bridge also took home Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series at tonight’s ceremony. Harry Bradbeer won Outstanding Director for a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
