The horror genre has been on a serious renaissance for the past few years, with plenty of filmmakers creating critically acclaimed new movies that also make tons of money at the box office. This has been done largely with new and unique stories, but the genre has always returned to its classic franchises with new sequels. Blumhouse’s Halloween is a prime example of this, and David Gordon Green’s installment was so successful that two new movies were eventually green lit. The cast from the most recent sequel are returning, as well as original Michael Myers actor Nick Castle. And Castle just shared a hilarious video of his preparation.
Nick Castle was the first actor to slip on Michael Myers’ signature mask, playing the iconic villain during John Carpenter’s original 1978 movie. Hardcore fans of the franchise were thrilled to see Castle returning to play the unmasked Michael, as well as providing his iconic breathing sounds. He’ll once again help bring Michael to life with Halloween Kills, and posted a bananas video of him prepping for the role. Check it out.
Well, that’s one way to get ready for another rampage in Haddonfield. This video shows Nick Castle rocking Michael’s mask, but a decidedly different costume. Namely, active wear to get his steps in, and practice walking while slashing.
Nick Castle’s video comes from the actor/director’s personal Twitter page, and will delight horror fans who can’t wait for Halloween Kills to continue the narrative of Laurie and Michael’s ongoing battle. Castle is a horror icon for being OG Michael Myers, playing the role before myriad stunt performers took the mantle and got stabby with a kitchen knife.
The above video shows Nick Castle on the treadmill, rocking his signature Michael Myers and a sharp object that presumably came from his kitchen. It’s an amusing clip, but one that does tease something very real: Halloween Kills and Castle’s role in the highly anticipated sequel. The upcoming horror movie has been rumored to be started up production, so it makes sense that Castle might be doing some preparation for his upcoming role. Because Michael will one again be back, and smart money says that he won’t be happy with his defeat in the last movie.
Blumhouse’s Halloween was a direct sequel to the original movie, ignoring the myriad sequels and beginning a new timeline in the process. 40 years after Michael attacked Laurie and her friends, it was revealed Jamie Lee Curtis’ signature character was still very much reeling from her attack, with the trauma of that fateful night dictating her life into adulthood.
But Laurie’s obsession about Michael ended up paying off, as she was truly prepared when the masked killer returned for another rampage. She was ultimately able to come to blows with The Shape, with her daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson taking arms against Michael in the process. But while it looked like the Strode women had burned their attacker alive, his breath was heard during Halloween‘s credits, and a sequel seemed all but inevitable.
Blumhouse threw everyone for a loop when plans for the sequel were revealed. Namely, because two more movies were given release dates: Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. The current timeline will be a bonafide trilogy, allowing David Gordon Green and Danny McBride to create and overarching narrative across three movies.
