How Keanu Reeves Could Look As Marvel’s Moon Knight In The MCU

For over a decade, Marvel Studios has been recruiting the cream of the crop to take on its blockbuster comic book adaptations, and it’s only growing. During last month’s San Diego Comic Con, it was announced that big names including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Mahershala Ali would be joining the MCU family as well. But what about 2019’s favorite actor to love: Keanu Reeves?

The John Wick actor has been approached by Marvel before but has not yet found a place in the massive movie universe. When the Russo Brothers were recently asked what role they’d like to see him in, they were down with Kevin Smith’s idea of Keanu Reeves playing Moon Knight. That inspired this piece of fan art:

BossLogic loves to imagine actors as badass heroes with his artwork and this one certainly shows the Russos’ and Kevin Smith’s good eyes. Marvel fans have been hoping for a Moon Knight movie for sometime, and even James Gunn once shared his interest in working on the project if he wasn’t so busy. The artist previously explored fancasting this character, but with Jake Gyllenhaal as Marc Spector, before Gyllenhaal became the MCU’s Mysterio.

Moon Knight is a former U.S. Marine who is granted the powers of Egyptain Moon God Khonshu in exchange for his service to Earth as a vigilante skilled in hand-to-hand combat and gadgetry. The character certainly has some comparisons to DC’s Batman, however Moon Knight eventually goes insane, developing multiple personalities and losing grasp on reality, thanks to Khonshu’s powers.

Neither Moon Knight nor Keanu Reeves was mentioned at Marvel’s recent Phase Four panel at Comic Con. However, Marvel Chief Kevin Feige has approached Keanu for multiple projects. In Feige’s words:

Past rumors attached Keanu Reeves to The Eternals, but he was never announced as part of the cast. The actor also reportedly was to play Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel, but scheduling conflicts with John Wick 3 got in the way and Jude Law nabbed the role instead. Reeves is a busy man, as he’s currently filming Bill & Ted Face The Music and will be returning for John Wick 4 as well.

The MCU doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, so hopefully Keanu Reeves will find a place in the universe and Moon Knight will be adapted for either the big screen or television as well! Reeves has been fan-casted in a variety of roles including Wolverine, Silver Surfer, and Nova. Which one would you like to him play? Would you be excited for a Moon Knight movie?
