Chainsaw Man’s Creator Revealed His Next Manga, And It’s Even Darker Than Anyone Expected

Movies

The hit manga series Chainsaw Man ended last month with the release of its 232nd chapter, appropriately titled “Thank You, Chainsaw Man”. Despite speculation from fans about fake endings, or a possible continuation of the series in a third part, it appears Tatsuki Fujimoto’s modern dark fantasy classic is truly over.

The finale’s announcement took Chainsaw Man‘s massive and ever-growing following by surprise, as the series’ popularity arguably reached its peak in the last year thanks to its anime adaptation by studio MAPPA. The finale proved itself divisive among manga fans, though the most devoted have continued to support the direction the series went. Others are still holding out hope that Chainsaw Man will return.

As of now, there has been no official announcement concerning Tatsuki Fujimoto’s future plans, though he has addressed them in the past. In 2021, as the artist was gearing up for the start of Chainsaw Man Part 2, he discussed an idea he had for a future project, and its concept is just as wild as fans might expect from Fujimoto.

Over the last five or so years, Tatsuki Fujimoto has become something of a household name among members of the global anime and manga fandoms. Part of what helped make Chainsaw Man so popular is the myth surrounding its creator. Fujimoto has built a reputation for himself, thanks largely to the wild stories he tells in interviews and his online presence. For instance, on the social media platform, X, Fujimoto uses an account where he pretends to be his own little sister. A little sister he does not actually have.

He’s known for being somewhat eccentric, and his stories are known for their unique brand of absurdity. So in a 2021 interview, when asked whether he had any new stories in mind, he gave an answer that only those familiar with the artist could have expected. He emphatically said:

“I have some ideas, yes! In particular, I have a story that would start as a romantic comedy in which there would be, at the beginning, several heroines, but only one of them manages to find love. Disheartened, the other girls would commit suicide and come back as evil spirits materialized to haunt the everyday life of the one who managed to find a boyfriend. Do you like it?”

Anyone familiar with Tatsuki Fujimoto as an artist should take what he says with a grain of salt. He’s been known to tell some wild tales, like when he claimed to have eaten his dead pet goldfish. It’s entirely possible he came up with this premise on the spot. However, the idea of Fujimoto tackling the romance genre should excite manga fans.

The Reze Arc Proves the Artist Is Capable of Writing a Love Story

Tatasuki Fujimoto’s two major serialized titles, Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man, are both action-packed dark fantasy stories. However, the recent Reze Arc film should have proved to the world he’s more than capable of writing a love story, even if he puts a strange, disturbing spin on the genre. Given his past history, fans might be smart to expect a one-shot from the artist next, like those he released following Chainsaw Man Part 1’s conclusion in 2020.

Chainsaw Man’s Final Chapter Resurrects the Series’ Most Popular Hero, and the Fandom is Shook

Chainsaw Man’s final chapter has officially been released, and it sees the long-awaited return of a fan-favorite character.

Chainsaw Man, until further notice, has officially come to an end, and fans are likely scrambling to find new manga to fill the void. Though if series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto comes through with his previously mentioned rom-com idea, those fans will be eating good in no time.
