But while Ransom Canyon transports audiences to a small Montana town rather than a Texas high school, Minka admitted that a hint of Friday Night Lights energy may have made its way into her character.

As she put it, “This is like Lyla Garrity 20 years later.”

Meanwhile, Josh, 52, emphasized the relatability of the show through the small-town drama that lives within the confines of the town’s borders.  

“The history, especially between these two families,” Josh said of his and Minka’s characters. “There’s so much tension between them, so many squabbles.”

“These things keep coming up,” he continued. “No matter how much you try to mend those fences, there’s so much history there that it’s hard to fix the past. No matter how hard you try, something seems to come up.”
