Peter Krause is singing his swan song.

After the actor’s 9-1-1 character Bobby Nash was killed off in a shocking twist of the Ryan Murphy procedural drama’s April 17 episode, he shared an emotional farewell letter to his time on the show.

“Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice, and he was built for this,” Krause wrote in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter published after the episode aired April 17. “First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them.”

Of course, the 59-year-old—who has been a part of the 9-1-1 series since its 2018 premiere—said that devoted fans might be “upset by this loss, and they have a right to be,” as he noted of the “Lab Rats” episode’s shocking ending, “It is a loss.

And Krause—who shares son Roman, 23, with ex Christine King—emphasized that it had been an “honor” to portray the captain of the Los Angeles Fire Department and work alongside Angela Bassett, who portrays Athena Grant, his love interest on the show.
